Hand Can Opener Reviews
A hand can opener is what is known to be a manual can opener. With the advent of many types of can openers at the market, many people still prefer the simplicity of a manual can opener. Manual can openers however are easily becomes dull or broken, because they are only meant for opening thinner, smaller sized cans. There are heavy duty can openers available at the store for better efficiency usage.
Can Opener History
The need for canned openers came because of the invention of canning by Peter Durand in the early nineteenth century, originally used for the British army. The inventor soon realized the implication of canning for the storage of food to extend its life, but hasn’t really figured out a way of how to take the food out. Back then, canned goods were stored in very heavy solid iron cans.
The can opener wasn’t invented until the 1860’s by Ezra Warner, when the cans used for canned goods became much lighter and thinner. Still, the first can opener looked
more of a deadly weapon than a kitchen appliance with its large, curved, bayonet like blade – this paved the way to what we know now as a hand can opener.
Other Common Types of Can Opener
